QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
WHO IS DELANO MCGREGOR?
As a native Detroiter, I grew up in an economically depressed environment. Nevertheless, my family sought opportunities for cultural and educational growth. My academic and athletic abilities took me to Wayne State University where I continued to seek opportunities to expand my skills. These skills and experiences grew while
working for major corporate entities. I have made a habit of sharing my experience by performing community service to assist others.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO SUCCEED?
It is my strong belief that when people work together, great things can be accomplished.
Optimism propels me through any difficulties I face. Every day, I make it my goal to look for the creative opportunities of each situation. People often ask how my day is going and my answer will always be that my day is going very well. Don’t be misled into thinking that I wear rose colored glasses. This is far from the truth. However, I wake up each day with the purpose of directing my response to the issues of life.
I am motivated to create the life I want and use the undesirable experiences as learning tools while working toward the next milestone.
WHAT ABOUT COLLABORATION?
Creating an atmosphere of collaboration is one of my assignments in life. I work with others to develop key performance indicators to ensure successful outcomes. My experiences include cross-functional team collaboration that resulted in increased revenue from organic and prospective sources. I worked with sales and marketing partners to grow our existing book of business as well as its expansion.
ARE YOU A TEAM PLAYER?
I truly believe in the value of collaborative environments. Success never happens without input from others. Think about a successful individual from any genre or profession. Not one person comes to mind who created or maintained success without help from others. Working collaboratively, sharing ideas, and discovering new processes should be at the heart of any team. I created ways to encourage collaboration within my organization.
With the valuable input of others, I submitted a proposal that was adopted to create a knowledge base of the professional and personal skills for employees. The idea for this endeavor arose from multiple requests for specific talents held by employees. It is my strong conviction that we are stronger together.
COMMUNICATING IDEAS WITH OTHERS
Ideas are best when they are expressed. Clear, concise communication skills continuously serve me well. One focus is to ensure any message I convey reaches all hearers with clarity and understanding. I work diligently to master all forms of effective communication.
I successfully completed a Public Speaking course through Samford University. While completing my MBA, I earned a 4.0 in graduate level course - Persuasive Communication. My enhanced communication skills allow many creative ideas to be shared for maximum effectiveness.
